We are proud to be the newest outdoor adventure company in
the High Country. With offices located in Boone, NC and
Erwin, TN we can conveniently service customers staying in
the High Country (Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk, NC),
the Tri Cities (Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City, TN),
and Asheville areas of North Carolina and Tennessee. We are
pleased to offer a wide variety of guide services in whitewater rafting, caving, hiking, and climbing
trips in North Carolina and Tennessee.
With more rivers to choose from than other outdoor companies
in the High Country, Backwoods Adventures is excited to
offer whitewater trips suitable for everyone. From
beginners to the most seasoned experts, we have come up with
a whitewater trip for you!
Novices can get their kicks on the lower section of the
Nolichucky River,
the ultimate class I- II trip. Looking for more adventure?
Then the French
Broad and the
Big Laurel
are the rivers for you! For even more of a challenge,
and not for the faint of heart, paddle the best kept secret
in North Carolina with experienced kayakers on the class
IV-V waters of the
Watauga Gorge!
For a different type of outdoor adventure, Backwoods
Adventures offers educational caving trips for individuals
nine years or older. Located in Bluff City, TN,
Whorley's Cave offers a unique opportunity to
explore the wonders of a natural limestone cave. Our
professional caving staff will guide you around ancient
stalagmite formations, up a forty foot rope climb and
through an underground stream.
